Richard R. Cobb, 77, of the 1100 block of Lexan Ave., died Oct. 11, 1997, in his home.
He was born in Danville, Va., and was raised in Winston-Salem, N.C. He attended Davidson College, where he worked on the campus newspaper. Mr. Cobb served The Virginian-Pilot and The Ledger-Star as a cub reporter and a crime reporter. He was also the editor for The Virginian-Pilot's special Portsmouth editions before retiring as the real estate editor after 40 years of service.
He especially enjoyed watching both of his grandsons play football without missing a single game, from elementary school up until three weeks ago.
He was a member of the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club and was also an avid gardener.
Survivors include his wife, Eugenia George Cobb; a son, Stephen H. Cobb Sr. of Virginia Beach; a sister, Ann Kemp of Easton, Md.; two grandsons, Stephen H. Cobb Jr. of Virginia Beach and Richard C. Cobb of Norfolk; and one great-grandson, R. Brice Cobb.
A service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
