MIRIAM R. PHILIPPBAR

Miriam R. Philippbar, 79, died suddenly Oct. 10, 1997, in a local hospital.

She was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and was the widow of retired Navy Commander Joseph W. Philippbar. She was a housewife and member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, the Retired Officers Wives Club and a volunteer for the Red Cross in many capacities.

Survivors include a daughter, Dr. Miriam Coleman of Kalamazoo, Mich.; two sons, Joseph Philippbar III of Manilus, N.Y. and Mark Davis Philippbar of Catskill, N.Y.; a brother, Edward H. Fay Jr. of Bay Village, Ohio; two grandchildren, Matthew R. Philippbar of Clifton Park, N.Y. and Timothy Joseph Coleman of Kalamazoo; and three nephews, Edward H. Fay III of Charleston, S.C., Peter H. Fay of Sunset Beach, Calif., and Andrew H. Fay of Strongsville, Ohio. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Amy A. Coleman.

A memorial service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 5181 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. John A. Baldwin. Burial will be private. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, is in charge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Chapter of American Red Cross and the Virginia Beach Library at Kempsville. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
