Charles Shubrick Simmons Jr., 88, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 1997.
Born in Norfolk, he was a lifelong resident of Newport News and a member of Hilton Presbyterian Church. He retired in 1973 as a supervisor in piping design of the Newport News Ship Yard after 26 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Simmons; a son, Kenneth Simmons of Newport News; a daughter, Marilyn Campbell of Manteo; five grandchildren, Rusty Campbell of Manteo, Michael Campbell of Dallas, Texas, Robbie Campbell of Manteo, Kenneth Simmons, Ricky Simmons, both of Hampton; a great-grandchild, Stephanie Simmons of Hampton; a sister, Margaret Habel of Front Foyal, Va.
A service of remembrance will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in Hilton Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Scott Bowerman. Memorials may be to the church. Umphlett Funeral Home, Newport News, is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
