Virginia W. ``Tugger'' Riddick, 83, formerly of 2505 Elm Ave., died Oct. 12, 1997, in the home of her granddaughter in Chesapeake.
Born in Portsmouth, she was the widow of Wayman A. Riddick and had retired as director after 20 years of service with Miller Day Nursery. Mrs. Riddick was a member of Emanuel A.M.E. Church where she was a member and past treasurer of Pastor's Aid, member of the Stewardess Board, Missionary Society, and past president of the Class Leaders Organization. She was also a member of Carolyn LaGretta Chapter No. 628, Order of Tents.
Survivors include two sisters, Laura Watford and Lillian Copeland, both of Portsmouth; three grandchildren, Beverly W. Fears of Chicago, Ill., Daisy V. Wright of Columbia, Tenn., and Cynthia W. Diggs of Chesapeake; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Emanuel A.M.E. Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. James F. Mason. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. Friday. The family will be at the home of Cynthia W. Diggs, 1508 Lauren Ashleigh Drive, Chesapeake, and will assemble there for the funeral.
