Alfred Virgil Short Sr., 63, of the 3900 block of Dartmouth St. died Oct. 13, 1997, in a local hospital.
A native of Jewel Ridge, Va., he had retired from Hydraulic Service Co. and was a former owner of Short Brothers Service Station, High Street, Portsmouth. He was a member of Portsmouth Assembly of God and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Wood of Portsmouth and Patricia Ann Clarke of Gloucester, Va.; a son, Alfred V. Short Jr. of Portsmouth; four sisters; five brothers; and nine grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Homer Peterson. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
