MUSIC DRAWS FOLKS OF ALL SORTS TO ENJOY PORTSMOUTH'S SEAWALL

MORE THAN 50 cowboy hats were at a concert held at Portside Oct. 2. Under those hats were line dancers, foot stompers and smiles.

In all, a crowd of at least 150 showed up to see the Wooden Nickel Band perform country music for three hours, despite an autumn chill in the air.

Leaning on fences, rocking with friends on boats or sitting at tables under the tents, any seat in the house was a good one.

Portside hosted more than 120 concerts this season, musical spices ranging from jazz to acoustic folk, drawing 2,000 to 3,000 every Thursday night. But will they dance again next year? ILLUSTRATION: Staff photo by JEN MYSTKOWSKI
