ROBERT L. GODFREY SR.

Robert L. Godfrey Sr. of the 800 block of W. 48th St. died Oct. 13, 1997, in a local hospital.

Born in Norfolk, he was a retired maintenance mechanic for N.R.H.A. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Olive Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Godfrey; six daughters, Rosa Lee Edmonds, Rosa M. Simons, Delester McAdoo, LaVerne Godfrey, Eunice Cobb and Constance Godfrey; two sons, Robert L. Godfrey Jr. and Rufus R. Reid Sr.; a sister, Ella Timberlake of Norfolk; 23 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Olive Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Harry A. Davis. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the residence.
