CLARK F. MACKES JR.

Clark F. Mackes Jr., 64, of Beaton Street died Oct. 15, 1997, in a Norfolk hospital.

Born in Easton, Pa., he had retired after 20 years with the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He then went on to retire as a technician representative after 17 years with Grumman Aerospace. Mr. Mackes was a member of Catholic Church of St. Mark. He was the son of the late Mabel Stahley Mackes and Clark F. Mackes Sr.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Priscilla R. Mackes; a daughter, Dr. Kathleen M. Huun, and her husband, Dr. Paul E. Huun, of Salem, Ore.; three sons, Mark S. Mackes and his wife, Mariella Mackes, of Palmdale, Calif., Michael B. Mackes and his wife, Adebia Mackes, of Sacramento, Calif., Martin D. Mackes and his wife, Beth Mackes, of Germantown, Md.; seven sisters, Ethel Olliff of Bethlehem, Pa., Mabel Czapp of Nazareth, Pa., Miriam Willis of Chattanooga, Tenn., Evelyn Fortun of Bath, Pa., Patsy Nice of Tamaqua, Pa., Virginia Gilbert of Pottstown, Pa., and Emma Niepert of Tamaqua, Pa.; five brothers, David Mackes of Northampton, Pa., Franklin Mackes of Effort, Pa., Charles Mackes of Wind Gap, Pa., Eugene Mackes of Bath, Jay Mackes of Danielsville, Pa.; three grandchildren, Cassidy Huun and Collin Huun, both of Salem, and Kaitlin Mackes of Palmdale. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister, Paul and Dorthea Mackes.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in Catholic Church of St. Mark by Fr. Daniel N. Klem. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, with a graveside service at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 1997. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
