VIRGINIA D. ALFORD

Virginia K. Davis Alford, 85, of the 1600 block of Old Donation Parkway, died Oct. 16, 1997, in her residence, where she was the first resident of Windermere.

Born in Jackson, Tenn., she had lived most of her life in Jacksonville, Fla. She was the widow of Boyd E. Alford. During World War II, Mrs. Alford was employed as a welder in Jacksonville shipyard.

Survivors include a daughter, Paula F. ``Pat'' Roebuck of Virginia Beach; a sister, Frances Davis Pittman of Jacksonville; two grandchildren, Paul M. Roebuck, Laurie Virginia Jennings and her husband, John P. Jennings, all of Virginia Beach; a great-granddaughter, Caitlin Jennings of Virginia Beach; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Joe W. Davis.

A memorial service will be held at Windermere at a later date. The body will be sent to Hardage and Giddens Funeral Home, Jacksonville, for services and burial. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
