Eight inmates returning to James River Correctional Work Center from a work release assignment were injured Friday when their van went off the road and into a ditch, state police said.
The driver of the van, B.A. Booker, also was injured, state police spokeswoman Mary Evans said. The injured were taken to the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals in Richmond.
