Elnora Kornegay Ferebee, 84, beloved mother of seven daughters and a son, died Oct. 16, 1997, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
She had been retired from Maryview Hospital for 22 years. A faithful member of Faith Fellowship Community Baptist, she was church mother and served on the missionary and deaconess boards for many years. She was a former member of Noble Street Baptist Church.
Born in Mount Olive, N.C., on Jan. 27, 1913, she is survived by seven daughters, Edna F. Gray, Shirley M. Skinner, Joan E. Bethea, Floretta F. Twitty, Beverly J. Cypress, Valerie L. Lee, all of Portsmouth, Patricia A. Knight of Chesapeake; a son, Clarence B. Ferebee of Everett, Wash.; 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.
A wonderful mother and friend to all, she will be greatly missed.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Fourth Baptist Church, 726 South St., Portsmouth, with the Rev. Thurman Twitty officiating. The family will meet at 1325 Warfield Drive, in the Cavalier Manor area of Portsmouth. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Airline Blvd., Chesapeake.
