ELLIOTT AND THOMPSON ELECTED: Jody L. Elliott, a certified public accountant at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, was elected president of the Virginia chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association for 1997-98. Also, Margaret M. g2ls20 Thompson Thompson, controller of Chesapeake General Hospital, was elected to the board of directors for the association. Both also serve as overall chair for the chapter's membership committee.
STONE, MUNCY, JOBE AND POWER RECEIVE AWARDS: The Virginia Society of Professional Engineers awarded Christopher M. Stone the Engineer of the Year award. He was recognized for his service to VSPE and the engineering profession. Stone is vice president and director of structural engineering with Clark Nexsen Architectural and Engineering in Norfolk. Frederick M. Muncy, project manager with Michael Baker Jr. in Virginia Beach, was awarded the Distinguished Service Award. He was recognized for his work as VSPE treasurer and president of the association's Tidewater chapter. Kenneth D. Jobe received the Outstanding Service Award for his work with the VSPE Southeast region chapter. Jobe is with Michael Baker Jr. Edward H. Power, vice president of H.D.R. Engineering in Virginia Beach, also got the Outstanding Service Award for his work on the National Engineering Design Challenge competition.

BROWN PROMOTED: Roland B. Brown Jr. was promoted to associate manager for the Chesapeake office of American General Life and Accident Insurance Company.
VIRGINIA BEACH
VEECK ELECTED PRESIDENT OF ASSOCIATION: Alan C. Veeck, vice president of sales of Tidewater Air Filter Fabrication Co., was elected president of the National Air Filtration Association.
NEW DIVISION MANAGER: Michael S. Bumbaco was named division manager of the transportation department at Mary Ann Mijares Engineering, a firm specializing in civil, highway, site and utility engineering. He was formerly a transportation project manager with Michael Baker Jr.
NEW PHYSICIANS AT INTEGRATED MEDICAL SPECIALISTS: Dr. Stephen W. Kayota and Dr. Catherine Anne Dalton have joined Integrated Medical Specialists. Kayota completed his residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School's Departg4ls20 Dalton ment of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is board eligible in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Dalton is a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond and is board certified in internal medicine. She recently served as a faculty physician at MCV's Department of Internal Medicine.
