J. LAWRENCE HICKMAN

John Lawrence Hickman, better known as ``Hick,'' 93, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997, in Shore Memorial Hospital.

He was a native of Wachapreague and was the son of the late Randall and Betty Lawrence Hickman. He was the retired owner of E & H Cleaners and was a lifetime member of Cape Charles Lions Club and member of Exmore Moose Lodge (NU)683.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Ewell Hickman; a daughter, Laura H. McSpedden and husband, Joe, of Richmond; a son, John Lawrence ``Jack'' Hickman Jr. and wife, Irene, of Cape Charles; five grandchildren, John L. Hickman III and wife, Trudy, Randall L. Hickman and Justin G. Hickman, all of Cape Charles, Tiffany N. Mohr and Andrew B. McSpedden, both of Richmond; and three great-grandchildren, John L. Hickman IV, Shannon M. Hickman and Randall L. Hickman Jr., all of Cape Charles.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Cape Charles Cemetery by the Rev. Jack D. Pruitt. Wilkins-Doughty Funeral Home is in charge.
