Clarence Raymond ``Ray'' West, 68, of Salvo, N.C., died Tuesday Oct. 21, 1997, in Maryview Medical Center.
Mr. West was a native of Waynesboro, Pa., and the son of the late Walter and Carrie West. He was retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard engineering department, and CDI Marine Corp. He was Past Exalted Ruler of Portsmouth Elks Lodge No. 82 and a past member of American Legion Post 310. He served on the Missouri during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Henry West; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Holland of Portsmouth, Janice West Windley of Chesapeake; two son-in-laws, Bob Holland and Ron Windley; five grandchildren, Jennifer Stanko, Justin Orenduff, Allison Windley, Cameron Holland and Brandon Windley; a brother, Melvin West and a sister, Helen Black, both of Waynesboro.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel, by Dr. Albert A. Peverall Jr. Burial with Elks Rites will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m., and other times at his daughter's home, 3221 Peppercorn Drive, Chesapeake. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
