HAMPTON ROADS
BRADLEY AND BOYD TO ASSUME CHAMBER LEADERSHIP POSITIONS: The regional board of directors of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce elected R. Bruce Bradley, president and publisher of The Virginian-Pilot, as chairman of the board for 1998. Robert M. Boyd, president and chief administrative officer of First Virginia Bank of Tidewater, was elected treasurer for 1998. Bradley has served on the chamber's regional board for four years, most recently as vice chairman for regional development. Boyd is a member of the chamber's Virginia Beach division board of directors. Both will be sworn into office at the chamber's membership meeting Dec. 11.
TEAMSTERS ELECT OFFICERS: Members of the Teamsters union's Local 822 in Norfolk elected officers Monday. Chosen were: President David A. Vinson was re-elected; James Wright, vice president; Mark Lusk, secretary-treasurer; and Bob Shrieves, recording secretary. Ron Farlow, Sherbie Tucker and Jennie Wells were elected as trustees.

S.L. NUSBAUM FORMS MORTGAGE COMPANY; NORDLINGER ELECTED VICE PRESIDENT OF REALTY COMPANY: S.L. Nusbaum Realty Co. has formed S.L. Nusbaum Mortgage Co., a wholly owned subsidiary. The mortgage company was formed to assist developers and owners of multifamily housing with the structuring of debt and equity. Also, Allison Nordlinger was elected a vice president of S.L. Nusbaum Realty Co. She has been with the company since 1991 in the shopping center leasing division with a primary focus on properties in Virginia Beach and Norfolk.
DOLLAR TREE REPORTS QUARTER'S SALES: Dollar Tree Stores Inc., a Norfolk-based retailer, said its profits rose 43 percent in the third quarter. The company earned $8.7 million, or 20 cents a share, in the period ended Sept. 30. That compared to $6 million, or 14 cents a share, a year earlier. The earnings-per-share increase reflects a three-for-two stock split completed July 21. The retailer's sales rose 29 percent to $142.4 million, while same-store revenues rose 7.4 percent. Dollar Tree, a discount variety chain that sells products for $1 each, has 865 stores.

NETWORK LONG DISTANCE MOVES: Network Long Distance Inc. said that its common stock, traded on the Nasdaq SmallCap Market since February 1994, began trading on the Nasdaq National Market when the market opened Tuesday. The stock will continue to trade under the symbol NTWK. Common stock of Network Long Distance trades on the Nasdaq Stock Market under the symbol ``NTWK.''

CSX INCREASES DIVIDEND TO 30 CENTS A SHARE: CSX Corp. announced Tuesday that it will increase its quarterly dividend to 30 cents a share from 26 cents, a 15 percent increase. It also announced that the dividend will be paid Dec. 15 to shareholders of record as of Nov. 25. ILLUSTRATION: Bradley
