Regular-season and district tournament champion Great Bridge had three athletes named to the first team of the all-Southeastern District golf squad.
Sophomores Mike Nemcosky and Evan Adamson, and junior Pat McDuff were all named to the district's first team. The announcement came as their school made a successful debut as a team in this year's state AAA tournament, tying for sixth place with a 650.
Nemcosky, who shot 155 and 150 respectively in the district and Eastern Region tournaments, was named player of the year.
The three Wildcats were joined on the district first team by Indian River senior Chris Taylor; Lakeland senior Ryan Lambert; and Nansemond River senior Shaun Robertson.
Taylor shot 152 at last week's regional.
Lambert, a transfer from Nansemond-Suffolk, was the medalist in the district tournament and shot 154 last week.
Robertson, last year's district tournament medalist, advanced to the regional tournament.
The second team: Great Bridge's freshman Joey Mazur and sophomore Dan Youngsma; Lakeland senior Scott White; Nansemond River senior Evan Spivey; and Oscar Smith's junior Bryan Smith and junior Keith Vasconcellos.
In the state tournament, held Monday and Tuesday at Winton Country Club in Amherst, individual scores for the participating all-district players were: McDuff, 160; Nemcoskym 162; Joey Mazur, 165; Youngsma, 167; Adamson, 170; White, 170; and Taylor, 174.
