CHARLES R. STEPHENSON

Charles Roger Stephenson, also known as ``Chuck'' and ``Bro Charles,'' of the 600 block of W. 26th St. died Oct. 16, 1997, in a local hospital. He was 64.

Born in Southampton County, Capron, Va., he was a retired self-employed carpet installer subcontractor for K's Carpet. He was a shriner of Sahara No. 4 and a Prince Hall Mason. He was predeceased by his father, Roger Lee Stephenson, brother, Morris Stephenson, and maternal grandfather, William Porter.

Survivors include his wife, Stacey A.B. Stephenson; three daughters, Derrell Hudgins, Juanita Stephenson, Stephanie Davis; two sons, Kim Stephenson, Quadrell Stephenson; mother, Virginia Derring; seven sisters, Elnora Davis, Virginia Haywood, Ernestine James, Mary McLean, Barbara Roundtree, Wanda Deering, Gwendolyn Grant; seven brothers, William Stephenson, George Stephenson, Theodore Stephenson, Richard Deering, Floyd Deering, Lloyd Deering, Charles Deering; maternal grandmother, Annie Betty Porter; nine grandchildren; a son-in-law, Lewis Hudgins Jr.; daughter-in-law, Dedra Stephenson; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Norfolk chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service by the Rev. Joseph Lassiter. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Family and friends will assemble at 900 W. 27th St., Norfolk, at 10 a.m. Friday for the procession to the chapel. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
