JENNIFER C. SMITH

Jennifer Camper Smith, 51, of Little Neck, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997, at her home.

Raised in Virginia Beach, she was the daughter of Claudine Camper Clarke and the late John T. Camper. She was an honor graduate of Princess Anne High School and Longwood College. Remaining active in alumni activities at Longwood, she served on the board of directors of the Longwood College Foundation since 1993 and was responsible for the endowment of the John T. Camper Scholarship fund for biology students. She was the business manager of her husband's dental practice while playing an active role in helping to enhance the quality of education and promote student activities in the Virginia Beach Public School System. She served as the president of the First Colonial Booster Club from 1994 to 1996 and was an advocate for the continuance and growth of youth sports in the community and middle schools. She was a member of King's Grant Baptist Church. A loving wife and mother, Jennifer unselfishly devoted her life to her family.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Theodore R. Smith Jr.; her six children, Ashley D. Smith, Shelley Smith Flood and her husband, Dr. Scott Flood, Allison R. Smith, Stephanie C. Smith, Theodore R. Smith III and Jarrod C. Smith; her mother, Claudine Camper Clarke; sister, Celeste C. Manning of Greensboro, N.C.; mother-in-law, Grace Smith; uncle and aunt, Harry and Ellen Seeley; aunt, Ruth Sanderson of Richmond; sister-in-law, Mrs. Thomas B. Camper; and four nephews and two nieces.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at King's Grant Baptist Church by Jerry Holcomb. Also speaking will be Bill Kincaid of Great Neck Baptist Church. The family will receive friends today at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. Donations can be made to First Colonial High School for Jennifer Camper Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund, 1272 Mill Dam Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23454.
