JAMES A. MILLER

James Avery Miller, 76, of the 400 block of Tareyton Lane died Oct. 23, 1997, in a local hospital.

Born in Norfolk County, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a retired electronics foreman of Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Shop 67. He attended Pinecrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Bess Marsh Miller; two sons, Charles A. Miller and Forrest Lee Miller, both of Portsmouth; two sisters, Catherine Stewart and Glenna Funk, both of Portsmouth; two brothers, Horace Miller of Suffolk and Harry Miller of Chatham, Va.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Tom Potter. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Pinecrest Baptist Church Building Fund. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
