VIRGINIA YACHT BROKERS OPENS SECOND OFFICE: Virginia Yacht Brokers of Hampton has opened their second office at Atlantic Yacht Basin in the Great Bridge section. Located on the Intracoastal Waterway 12 miles south of Norfolk, Atlantic Yacht Basin is a service yard and covered fresh water storage facility in the mid-Atlantic.

LAW FIRM TO MERGE WITH NORTH CAROLINA FIRM: McGuire, Woods, Battle & Boothe, a Richmond-based law firm with an office in Norfolk, has announced its plans to merge with the Charlotte, N.C., law firm of Blakeney & Alexander. Blakeney & Alexander has nine attorneys who practice primarily in the labor and employment area. The merger is expected to completed by Jan. 1 and will include attorney hires.

ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS RANKS 170th in the VARBUSINESS 500: Electronic Systems was ranked 170th in the VARBusiness 500, a list of leading value-added resellers compiled by VARBusiness magazine. The magazine is a business publication for value-added resellers who sell top manfacturers' products along with service and training. The ranking was listed in the August issue.
JAMES VALLEY EQUIPMENT OPENS: James Valley Equipment Co., a wholly owned subsidiary of St. Louis-based Mississippi Valley Equipment Co., has opened an office at 1600 Virginia Beach Blvd. The company will rent and sell construction equipment, primarily pile-driving equipment to the construction industry in the mid-Atlantic region. Richard M. Hildreth was named president and Ken Payne, service manager.
