ROBERT E. BROWN

Robert Eugene Brown, 80, of the 500 block of Butler Ave. died Oct. 23, 1997.

A native of Swan Quarter, N.C., he was a retired accountant with the electric cooker division of General Foods and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He also was a funeral assistant and organist at Hill Funeral Home. Mr. Brown was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church, Suffolk, where he was involved in the Savage Bible Study Class. He was the widower of Ora Roberts Brown and the son of the late Hezekiah Brown and Jennie Etta Warner Brown.

Survivors include his daughter, Jean B. Stephenson of Richmond; a son, Robert B. Brown of Suffolk; a sister, Clenden B. Rice of Burlington, N.C.; a brother, Hezzie Brown Jr. of Norfolk; grandchildren, Lisa S. Wilson and Christopher H. Stephenson, both of Richmond, and R. Garren Brown of Virginia Beach.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Magnolia United Methodist Church, Suffolk, by the Rev. James W. Draper. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the residence, and they suggest memorial donations be made to the donor's charity of choice. Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
