WILLIAM H. OWEN SR.

William Henry Owen Sr., 87, of Aylwin Road died Oct. 23, 1997, in Virginia Beach.

A native of Charlotte County, Va., he was a retired planner for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Cradock Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder Emeritus. Mr. Owen was also a member of Lake Drummond Masonic Lodge No. 178. He was the beloved husband of Lucille P. Owen for 67 years.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Sandra O. Colby and her husband, Bill, of Virginia Beach; a son, William H. Owen Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Spring, Texas; three sisters, Irene Didlake of Glen Burnie, Md., Margaret McKinney of Bumpass, Va., and Frances Kegley of Brooklyn Park, Md.; three brothers, J. Clarence Owen of Pasadena, Md., Albert T. Owen of Brooklyn Park, C. Richard Owen of Pasadena; six grandchildren, William H. Owen III, Anita O. Lilly, Valerie O. Sepeda, Tracy C. Benson, Lara F. Colby and Cindee C. Porter; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Cradock Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Richard Lovingood. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday and at other times at 828 Coverdale Lane, Virginia Beach.
