RUBY E. ZAKOWSKI

Ruby Elizabeth Zakowski, 77, of the 300 block of Pinecrest Drive, went to rest with the Lord Oct. 23, 1997, in a local hospital.

A native of Presque Isle, Maine, she was a retired floral designer. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church, Park Manor Civic League and a Red Cross Volunteer. She was the widow of Alvin Jerome Zakowski.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon E. Wood of Holland, Va.; two sons, Steven W. Zakowski and Jerome A. Zakowski, both of Portsmouth; a sister, Jean Despips of Bowdoinham, Maine; a brother, Donald Nichols of York Beach, Maine; three grandchildren, Christopher W. Zakowski, Richard A. Wood and Melissa D. Zakowski.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in St. Therese Catholic Church by Father Jim Griffin. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the residence. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, Va.
