Harold Muse Katherman, 83, of Luxford Lane, died Oct. 24, 1997, in his residence.
Born in Norfolk, he was member of Rock Church of Virginia Beach, where he was an Elder and a greeter. A member of International Fellowship of Christian Businessmen, Mr. Katherman retired after 26 years of civil service as manager of the NAS BOQ. He also worked as the bell captain for the Virginia Beach Resort and Conference Center. He graduated from Maury High School in 1932 and attended the College of William and Mary.<
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Joynes Katherman of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Harolyn Joy Katherman of Chesapeake; two sons, Wes Katherman of Virginia Beach and Garland Katherman of Norfolk; three brothers, retired Col. Taylor Katherman of Clearwater, Fla., Ralph Katherman of Norfolk; three grandchildren, Shawn Katherman, Matthew Katherman and Adam Katherman, all of Virginia Beach. He was predeceased by a sister, Mrs. Peggy Doughty, and a brother, Walter Katherman Jr.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
