WRENN P. CHILDERS

Mrs. Sarah Wrenn Pennell Childers, 90, of West ``C'' Street, died Friday Oct.24, 1997, in a local nursing home.

Born June 22, 1907, in Alexander County, Mrs. Childers was a homemaker and retired from the washcloth department of Cannon Mill Co. She was a member of West Point Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry H. Childers in 1984; a son, Terry L. Childers in 1978; and her parents, Hugh Columbus Pennell and Iona Murphy Pennell.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Wanda Childers Tyner of Virginia Beach; two sons, Haskel F. Childers of Kannapolis, Donald Duane Childers of Redondo, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Maxine Sharpe, Mrs. Marie Sherrill, both of Kannapolis, Mrs. Hazel Keller of Marietta, Ga.; two brothers, Maynard Pennell and Atwell Pennell, both of Kannapolis; and eight grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in West Point Baptist Church by the Rev. Charles Littlejohn. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Lady's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, where the body remains. The family will be at her home, 1101 West ``C'' Street, Kannapolis.
