WARM UP WITH HOT CHILI

FALL WEATHER BRINGS football games and pots of chili simmering on the stove, filling the home with its hearty aroma. To help get you started, pick up some Hanover red kidney beans, three 15.5-ounce cans are 99 cents at Food Lion.

Farmer Jack has ground beef for 98 cents a pound and whole peeled Red-Glo tomatoes are five 14.5-ounce cans for $2.

If you're looking for fancy fare, Farm Fresh has Angus Beef semi-boneless steaks for $5.49 a pound, standing rib roast for $4.98 a pound and Farm Fresh Gold or Perdue Split breast are buy-one-get-one-free.

Boneless chuck roast is $1.28 a pound and club packs of boneless center-cut pork chops are $2.98 a pound at 3 Stores 1 Roof and Rack & Sack. Farmer Jack has whole fryers for 59 cents a pound and whole pork loin for $1.57 a pound.

Be-Lo has Richfood smoked picnics for 79 cents a pound and 1/4-loin pork chops for $1.79 a pound. Whole sirloin tip is $1.39 a pound at Food Lion.

Cookin Good roasting chickens are 77 cents a pound and boneless shoulder roast is $1.38 a pound at Hannaford.

Farm Fresh is having a 10-cent produce sale on red or golden Delicious apples, red or white grapefruit, limes, cucumbers, green peppers, and garlic cloves. White all-purpose potatoes are 10 cents a pound.

Other produce specials include iceberg lettuce for 49 cents, four-pound bags of Florida navel oranges are 99 cents and broccoli is 69 cents a bunch at 3 Stores 1 Roof and Rack & Sack.

Green cabbage is 19 cents a pound at Farmer Jack.

Five-pound bags of Russet, red or white potatoes are buy-one-get-one-free at $1.99 and 1-pound packages of Fresh Express garden salad is 99 cents at Food Lion.

Star fruit is 79 cents each and 10-ounce bags of spinach are 89 cents at Hannaford.

Pantry items include 16-ounce cans of Ocean Spray cranberry sauce, regular or whole berries for 88 cents, 5-pound bags of Dixie sugar for $1.58 and 20-ounce Oreo cookies for $1.88 at 3 Stores 1 Roof and Rack & Sack.

Be-Lo has 5-pound bags of Richfood flour for 69 cents and half-gallons of Richfood apple juice for 99 cents.

Gerber announces the newest member to its baby food family, ``Tender Harvest.''

``Tender Harvest'' is a line of baby foods made with organic fruits, vegetables and grains without added salt, sugar, starches, preservatives or artifical flavors.

Cereal varieties are fortified with iron, calcium and vitamin C. Juice varieties are 100 percent juice with vitamin C.
