WILLIAM D. LEWIS JR.

William Dave Lewis Jr., 54, of the 4100 block of First St. died Oct. 27, 1997, in Portsmouth.

Born in Texas, he had retired as a First Class E6 after 21 1/2 years in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Agape Ministries, Chesapeake.

Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Julita B. Lewis; three daughters, Melinda R. Lewis of Chesapeake, Anavel and Andy Cahanding and family of Missouri, Marivic Bautista and family of the Philippines; three sons, Danny and Josephine Palanca, Gerie and Vangie Palanca, all of Virginia Beach, Romeo and Richel Palanca of Chesapeake; parents, Mr. and Mrs. William D. Lewis Sr. of New York; two sisters, Barbara Caldwell and Pauline Bradley, both of Texas; three brothers and a sister in New York; 15 grandchildren; 12 nieces including Rosemary Harley and Rosemary and her husband, Kenny Carter, all of Virginia Beach and 10 nieces of Texas; six nephews of Texas; eight grand-nephews; and four grand-nieces.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Agape Ministries Church, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Pete Taylor. Burial will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, from 6 to 7 p.m. today and at the residence at all other times.
