Addie Graham Ellis, 69, of the 1300 block of Green St. died Oct. 27, 1997, in her residence.
Born in Portsmouth, she retired in 1987 as a cashier from Mary Jane Bakery. She was a member of Forth Baptist Church where she was a pastor's aide and a member of the Senior Usher Board. She was the widow of Charles Ellis Sr. and was predeceased by a son, William Graham.
Survivors include a daughter, Sarah Virginia Graham Branch of Portsmouth; a sister, Ida Glover of Portsmouth; 12 grandchildren, Ethel Fields, Tanya Branch, Earl Branch Jr., Lenwood Branch, Robert Branch, Antonyio Branch, Thaddus Branch, Curtis Weaver, Sylvia Monk, Donald Mills, all of Portsmouth, Sharon Miller and Stephanie Graham, both of North Carolina; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Forth Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Charles Beamon. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Viewing will begin Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Family and friends will assemble at 1360 Green St. for the procession to the church at noon.
