JOHN D. HART JR.

John Dennis Hart Jr., 88, of the 2400 block of Adler St., died Oct. 27, 1997, in Virginia Beach.

Born in Melfa, Va., he was a retired truck driver with more than 25 years of service for Exxon Corp. He was a member of the Fisherman's Class of Virginia Heights Baptist Church, Norfolk.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Sarah L. Hart; a son, Vernon B. Hart Sr. of Harbinger, N.C.; a sister, Hilda Roberts of San Diego, Calif.; a brother, Hayward H. Hart of Fla.; two grandchildren, V. Brooks Hart Jr. of Grandy, N.C., and Jay Allan Hart of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; four great-grandchildren, David J. Scarborough of Orlando, Fla., Joseph F. Scarborough of Kill Devil Hills, Ashleigh B. Hart and Vernon B. Hart III, both of Grandy.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. George Boyd. Contributions may be made to Virginia Heights Baptist Church, 1251 Kempsville Road, Norfolk, Va. Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
