NEW WAL-MART TO OPEN: Wal-Mart will open its fourth Hampton Roads superstore on North Main Street today. The opening of the Suffolk Wal-Mart Supercenter marks a 75,000-square-foot expansion of the orginial Suffolk Wal-Mart that opened in October 1991. The new store doubles the number of employees at the store, from about 230 to 475, said customer relations director Audrey Copeland. The opening of the expansion, which includes a grocery store, will be celebrated with a ribbon-cutting, promotions, sales, exhibits and about $3,500 in contributions from store employees, matched by the company, to local charities. A $1,250 contribution will be made to Kilby Shores Elementary School, the store's ``partner in education,'' Copeland said. Another Wal-Mart Supercenter opens today in Newport News.
