Forget all of those horror movies and Halloween television specials. Why not really scare yourself in the forum that uses the best special effect of all: your imagination.
WFOS-FM 88.7, the radio station of the Chesapeake public schools, will broadcast tonight beginning at 7 p.m. a special Halloween edition of its Friday Fanfare, hosted by Jayne Smith.
Smith suggests that everyone turn out the lights and gather 'round the radio for some truly spooky stuff.
Scheduled for tonight's special horror edition will be ``Classic Tales of Horror'' to feature two tales by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle: ``Lot No. 249'' and ``The Sealed Room.'' Smith also will broadcast Henry James' ``Turn of the Screw'' and tales of terror by Edgar Allen Poe.
Poe's tales will include ``The Raven,'' read by former WFOS announcer Shannon Smith, ``The Cask of Amantillado,'' read by the late area radio pioneer Bob Calvert, and ``The Frog Who Dreamed of Castles.''
For more information, call the station at 547-1036.
