George Purvis Sr. of the 2800 block of Kimble Terrace died Oct. 28, 1997, in a local hospital.
Mr. Purvis was a retired janitor for Cooke and Neff Realtors. He was born in Williamston, N.C., and was a member of Mount Herman Baptist Church, Norfolk.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Purvis; four daughters, Carolyn Smith of New Carrollton, Md., Vera Draper of Virginia Beach, Diane Westbrook and Marjorie Jason, both of Norfolk; two sons, George Purvis Jr. of College Park, Ga., and Micheal Purvis of Norfolk; two sisters, Marjorie Ormond of Queens, N.Y., and Olivia Bridgers of Manhattan, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Monday in Mount Herman Baptist Church, Norfolk, by the Rev. Steven Lewis. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park.
