Anna Nowlin, 68, of Merrimac Drive, died Oct. 29, 1997, in Maryview Medical Center.
Born in Campbell County, Va., she had retired in 1990 as a custodian after 29 years of service with Portsmouth Public Schools. Mrs. Nowlin was a member of New First Baptist, Taylorsville, Portsmouth.
Survivors include her husband, Richard G. Nowlin Jr. of Rustburg, Va.; three daughters, Mildred Hamer of Freeport, N.Y., Diann Lovelace of Gladys, Va., and Vonda Nowlin of Portsmouth; a son, Calvin Nowlin of Madison Heights, Va.; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Nowlin; two sons-in-law, Issac Hamer and Johnnie Lovelace; a sister, Nannie McDaniels of Portsmouth; a brother-in-law, James Nowlin; sisters-in-law, Francis Anthony, Elsie Lovelace, Juanita Bailey and Dorothy Flowers; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held at noon Saturday in New First Baptist, Taylorsville, Portsmouth, by Dr. T.M. Steele. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Viewing will begin at 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. today. Family and friends will assemble at 87 Merrimac Drive at 11 a.m. for the processional to the church.
