Samuel Frank Smith, 82, of Beverly Manor died Oct. 29, 1997.

Mr. Smith was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was the widower of Clara Smith and predeceased by a son, William Strickland.

He is survived by two daughters, Nancy C. Alston of Portsmouth, Sandra Laverne Smith of Pennsylvania; a son, Charles Smith of Portsmouth; two brothers, Major Smith and Dexter Smith, both of North Carolina; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a very special niece, Linda Williams.

A private service will be held in Hampton National Cemetery at a later date. Cremation Society of Virginia, Tidewater Office, is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
