Hattie E. Sivells Powell, 73, of Carver Circle, died Oct. 29, 1997, in her home.
Born in Norfolk County, she was a retired cook of Merrimac Restaurant. She was a member of Poplar Run Baptist Church, Suffolk, where she was a senior usher for more than 25 years and a member of the Sunday School, the Pastor's Aide and Missionary Circle. She was also a member of Sarah Tabernacle Love and Charity Lodge No. 141.
Survivors include her husband, Allen Powell; a daughter, Velinda C. Sivells of New Jersey; two sisters, Queenie S. Wiltz of Portsmouth, Barbara S. Felton of New Jersey; three brothers, Leon A. Sivells Sr., H. Eugene Sivells, both of Portsmouth, Robert E. Sivells of Eastern Pennsylvania; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; an aunt, Susie Davis of Chesapeake; an uncle, Willie Sawyer of Delaware; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Poplar Run Baptist Church, Suffolk, by the Rev. James A. Williams Jr. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon today. The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Monday.
