GEORGE N. JONES SR.

George Nelson Jones Sr., 84, of the 500 block of Long Ave. died Nov. 1, 1997, in Chesapeake General Hospital.

Born in South Mills, N.C., he had retired in 1975 as a driver for Railway Express after 33 years of service. He was a member of Great Bridge Baptist Church, Chesapeake. Mr. Jones was a charter member of Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp No. 1521, Elizabeth City, N.C., and a member of Norfolk County Grays.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia C. Jones; a daughter, Kathleen M. Jones of Chesapeake; four sons, B. Maurice Casas of Chesapeake, Joseph C. Casas of Williamsburg, George N. Jones Jr. of Issaquah, Wash., Robert E. Jones of Dunn, N.C.; a sister, Margaret Jones of Norfolk; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, by the Rev. Charles L. Moseley. The family will be at Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
