Joseph A. Vitola, 60, of the 1000 block of Smokey Mountain Trail died Nov. 1, 1997, in Norfolk.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a retired computer systems analyst for the Navy Exchange Service Command and a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy A. Vitola; three daughters, Joan Robertson and her husband, Robert, of Fair Haven, N.J., Debra Vitola of New Jersey and Maria Vitola of Staten Island, N.Y.; a son, Joseph P. Vitola of Chesapeake; his mother, Mary Angelone Vitola of Staten Island, N.Y.; a sister, Mary Wandy of Staten Island; a brother, Paul Vitola of Howell, N.J.; two grandchildren, Kerri Anne Robertson and Kenneth Joseph Robertson, both of Fair Haven; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Prince of Peace Catholic Church by Father Christian J. Haydinger. Burial will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, from 4 to 9 p.m. today and Monday. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
