ROBERT W. SHAFFER

Robert Wilson Shaffer, 54, of the 1900 block of Redgate Drive died Nov. 1, 1997, in his residence.

Born in Portsmouth, he was currently employed as a field technician for Boston Technology. He was a retired employee of the telephone company and a retired captain from the Army National Guard. He was a member of Mended Hearts, an avid speaker for organ transplant groups, and an active participant in the Transplant Games.

Survivors include his wife, Judith S. Shaffer; two sons, Bobby Shaffer of Suffolk and Joshua Shaffer of Blackstone, Va.; a stepdaughter, Lori A. Wiggins of Chesapeake; a sister, Barbara Warren of Portsmouth; and a brother, Gary Shaffer of Suffolk.

A funeral will be at conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by Dr. Charles Peterson. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Heart Association.
