DOUGLAS STEVENS

Douglas Stevens, 61, of the 2300 block of Parker Ave., died Nov. 2, 1997, in his home.

Born in Portsmouth, he was retired from Atlantic Creosoting Co. and a former sandblaster for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include two sisters, Mattie V. Smith and Julia I. Martin, both of Portsmouth; a brother, Willie E. Stevens of Portsmouth; an uncle, Willie Stevens Sr. of Portsmouth; a special friend, Cora Carter of Portsmouth; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Corprew Funeral Home Chapel, Portsmouth, by the Rev. William T. Smith. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth, with military honors. Viewing at the funeral home will begin at noon Wednesday. The family will be at the home of his sister, Mattie V. Smith, 2714 Ash St., and will assemble there for the funeral procession to the chapel. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
