Sarah Harper Gay of the 300 block of Dozier Lane died Nov. 1, 1997.

Born in Norfolk County, she was an active member of Saint Mark A.M.E. Church, where she participated in the Steward Board and Missionary Board.

Survivors include her husband, Walter Mack Gay of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Louise Anderson and Joyce Moses, both of Virginia Beach; five sons, Edward Johnson, Earl Johnson, Mack Gay, Milton Gay and Larry Gay, all of Virginia Beach; 54 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and a special niece, Emma Jones.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Saint Mark A.M.E. Church, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Vernon Ricks. Burial will be in Jones Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. Community Funeral Home, Virginia Beach Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at 237 Dozier Lane, Virginia Beach. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
