Malcolm Justis ``Mack'' Bobbitt, 74, of the 2400 block of Flemingtown Road, died Monday, Nov. 3, 1997, in Duke Medical Center.
A Warren County native, he was the son of the late Henry Dallas and Nancy Chewning Bobbitt. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He was a retired farmer and the retired vice president of Tar Heel Marina Corp. and Meekins Marina Inc. He was the owner of Bobbitt General Services and land developer and partner in Mee Bob Enterprises.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Joyce Meekins Bobbitt; three daughters, Mrs. Nancy B. Ormond and husband, William L. Ormond, Mrs. Mollie B. Scerbo and husband, Bernard F. Scerbo, Mrs. Joyce Ann B. Carpunky and husband, Kenneth J. Carpunky, all of Henderson; a son, Malcolm Justis Bobbitt Jr. and wife, Wanda L. Bobbitt of Manteo, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Nancy B. Rodwell of Littleton and Mrs. Kathryn B. Smiley and husband, John Smiley of Norlina; four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Frances G. Bobbitt, Mrs. Eleanor W. Bobbitt, Mrs. Mary Carlene Bobbitt, Mrs. Joyce O. Bobbitt; a brother-in-law, David E. Meekins and wife, Jane Meekins; eight grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren, three great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was a member of Middleburg Baptist Church where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday by the Rev. Stephen DeOrnellas. Mr. Bobbitt's body was willed to Duke University Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 9 p.m. today at the home.
