ARCHIE E. TOWNSEND JR.

Archie E. Townsend Jr., 48, of the 900 block of Storm Lake Drive, died Nov. 4, 1997, in his residence.

Born in Richmond, Ind., he retired after 21 years of service in the paint shop of Building Maintenance for the City of Virginia Beach.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy A. Townsend; two sons, Johnathan M. Townsend of Cheriton, Va., Richard S. Townsend of New Bern, N.C.; a stepson, Jon P. Rhoads of Portsmouth; mother, Arlene J. Townsend of Pilot Mountain, N.C.; two sisters, Brenda Sue Massey of Pilot Mountain, Karen Denise Renaud of Pensacola, Fla.; two brothers, Bobby Joe Townsend of Virginia Beach, Danny Ray Townsend of Hertford, N.C.; and a stepdaughter, Bonnie L. Rhoads of Virginia Beach.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, by Pastor Frank T. Jennings. Private burial will take place at Princess Anne Memorial Park at later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
