JOHN F. PETERSEN

John F. Petersen, 82, of the 1100 block of Woodland Way, died Nov. 4, 1997, in a Portsmouth hospital.

Born in Huron, S.D., he was a retired lieutenant commander of the U.S. Navy with 22 years of service. He also was a retired safety engineer for Litton Industries. Mr. Petersen was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret C. Petersen; a daughter, Ellen L. Keilholtz of Hagerstown; two sons, James A. Petersen of Virginia Beach, John F. Petersen Jr. of Chesapeake; and eight grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel by Pastor Robert E. Hobson. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
