The Chargers (9-1) head into Friday's Division I Independent schools playoff game against Quantico (4-6) as the No. 2 seed after finishing the regular seasonwith a 57-6 victory over Massanutten.
IOW played a near flawless game Saturday night committing just one turnover and one penalty while holding Massanutten to 204 total yards.
Paul Thomas Creason connected on three touchdown passes and returned an interception for another score. Griffin Williams also added three scores for the Chargers, who are ranked second in the state.
Southampton
Sophomore running back Pervis Binns put together perhaps the best-ever performance by an Indian during Friday's 63-0 victory against York.
Binns scored seven touchdowns and gained 347 yards on 15 carries as Southampton ran its record to 9-0.
``It was just one of those things,'' Southampton coach Littleton Parker said. ``I really wasn't aware of the yards he gained.''
Five of Binns' touchdown runs were for 40 yards or more (66, 41, 44, 47 and 52).
``He broke a lot of tackles,'' Parker said. ``The one where he passed 300 yards, he broke two tackles at the line of scrimmage.''
The back, who Parker said is the quickest he's ever coached, was taken out early in the fourth quarter.
``It's not only his speed, he can see the field,'' Parker said. ``He has great agility. He changes directions. He's elusive and those are things you just can't coach.''
Southampton Academy
The Raiders (9-1) travel to Nash-Edgecombe of Wilson Friday night for a second round Colonial Carolina Conference playoff game against the Rebels (9-0). Southampton Academy did not play the Rebels this season but split a pair of games with them last season including a 36-14 victory in the playoffs.
Southampton Academy defeated Parrott Academy 28-6 at home Friday night in what coach Dale Marks said was the team's best first-half performance of the year. The Raiders took a 28-0 halftime lead while holding Parrott to just 10 yards on the ground.
``We seemed to be more aggressive and the tackling seemed better than it was in other games,'' Marks said.
Southampton Academy held Parrott to 61 yards on the ground and 82 yards of total offense.
The Raiders will need much of the same this week against N.E.W.
The Rebels run an option offense that features fullback Mike Wall and tailback Travis Pope, who gained 1,400 yards this season.
