CHESLEY C. MIDGETT SR.

Chesley Collis Midgett Sr., 87, died Tuesday Nov. 4, 1997, in a Chesapeake hospital.

Mr. Midgett was a retired U.S. Coast Guard chief petty officer. He was a veteran having served in the Coast Guard during World War II. He was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church, the Manteo Masonic Lodge, a 32nd degree Mason, a charter member of the Wanchese Lions Club, the Disabled Veterans, and the Sudan Temple, Newbern. He was the son of the late Etheridge Midgett and the late Essie Liverman Midgett and the widower of Lucille Daniels Midgett.

Survivors include his sons, Jake D. Midgett of Portsmouth and Chesley Midgett Jr. of Wanchese; a brother, Donald E. Midgett of West Palm Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m Friday in Bethany United Methodist Church by the Rev. Thomas Clark. Burial with Masonic rites will follow in the Cudworth Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Twiford's Colony Chapel, Manteo. Twiford's Funeral Home, Manteo, is in charge of arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
