Julian P. Vick Jr., 77, of 6572 NC Hwy. 33 East, died Wednesday morning Nov. 5, 1997, in Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Vick was born June 24, 1920, the son of the late Julian P. Vick Sr. and Bessie Bell Sammons Vick. He married the former Evelyn Williams Oct. 5, 1941, who survives. Mr. Vick served his country with a tour of duty in the U.S. Army. He spent more than 20 years as the owner and operator of the Parkway Motel located in Craven County. He was a member of the Hooker Memorial Christian Church, Greenville. He was a former member, Elder and deacon of the Haw Branch Church, Chocowinity.
Surviving with his wife, Evelyn, are a daughter, Mrs. Jean Phonice Vick Sutton of Grimesland; and a son, Jimmy Paul Vick of Vanceboro; a brother, George Wilford Vick of Portsmouth; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Two brothers, James Roland Vick and Cecil P. Vick preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday in the Proctor Memorial Christian Church, Grimesland, with Don Sharpe and Harold Turnage officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Paul Funeral Home, Washington, and other times at the home of his daughter, Jean Sutton in Grimesland.
