Kermit Edward Jordan, 70, of Route 1 died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 1997, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Mr. Jordan was born in Gates County. The son of the late Wallace W. and Mrs. Lillian Peele Jordan, he had retired from Union Camp Corp. after 29 years of service. Prior to that, he had worked with Jack Leggett's Seafood, Suffolk. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and the Gates County Lions Club. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Helen Chaney Brown Jordan; two daughters, Sherrol Jordan of Hobbsville and Denise J. Paruscio and her husband, Tom, of Elizabeth City; two grandchildren, Jordan Thomas Paruscio and Ashley Marie Paruscio; his stepmother, Verna Jordan Wilson of Norfolk; and a half-brother, William T. Jordan of Florida.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Zion United Methodist Church by the Rev. Lisa Creech Bledsoe and Tom Paruscio. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, in charge. Friends may join the family at the residence.
