Madeline Adele Mathias, 86, of the 500 block of Kilby Shores Drive, died Nov. 4, 1997, in Louise Obici Hospital.
The widow of Clayton Lemuel Mathias, Mrs. Mathias was a homemaker and member of Whaleyville United Methodist Church. She was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of the late Robert Branton and Mattie Collier Branton.
Survivors include her sons, R. ``Bobby'' E. Mathias Sr. of Roanoke, Frank L. Mathias of Suffolk; sisters, Estelle Byrum of Sunbury, N.C., Blanche Markham of Colonial Heights, Va.; grandchildren, June Myers of Carrsville, Va., Janice Kania, Amy Mathias, Laura Mathias, all of Suffolk, Robert E. Mathias Jr., Rita Gray, both of Chesapeake, Larry Mathias and Michelle Mathias, both of Virginia Beach, Andrew Marshall Mathias of Gates, N.C.; 11 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Harrell Funeral Home by the Rev. Carter Dey and the Rev. Larry Renfrow. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home and other times at 522 Kilby Shores Drive, Suffolk. Contributions may be made to Nansemond Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O.
