Rosa Ellen Miles, 84, of the 300 block of Effingham St. died Nov. 4, 1997, inPortsmouth General Hospital.
Born in Portsmouth, she was the widow of William W. Miles, to whom she was married for more than 65 years. She was a member of Emanuel A.M.E. Church, Portsmouth, for more than 63 years. Mrs. Miles was a missionary and a lay worker.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Olivia Miles of Portsmouth; two sons, Lawrence Winson Miles of Los Angeles, Calif. and Kenneth Gerard Miles of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Dr. Thelma Carver Cobb of Baton Rouge, La.; nine grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. She was predeceased by two sons, William Warner Miles and Charles Bernard Miles.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Emanuel A.M.E. Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. James F. Mason. Burial will be in Greenlawn Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
