GEORGE J. APPINO

George J. Appino, 54, died Monday, Oct. 13, 1997, in an accident near Franklin, Va.

Born in Union, Mo., and raised in DuQuoin, Ill., Mr. Appino was a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University, Arkansas. Capt. Appino served as a company commander in the Quartermaster Corps of the U.S. Army in Vietnam. From 1976 to 1983, he worked as a food services manager for the Mariott Corp. and Providence Hospital in the Washington, D.C., area. From 1984 to 1988, he was a vice president and materials manager for Sovran Bank, also based in Washington, D.C. In 1989, he moved to Virginia Beach where he worked for OSI, Perry Buick and Cavalier Ford. He was employed by Deaton Inc., Birmingham, Ala., at the time of his death. He will long be remembered by friends at Even Stevens and Sonny's country western clubs for his big heart and wonderful sense of humor.

He is survived by his daughter, Robin Appino, of Valdosta, Ga. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
